Description: The United States Geological Survey (USGS) Energy Resources Program addresses the challenge of increasing demand for affordable energy from environmentally acceptable energy sources by conducting basic and applied research on geologic energy resources and on the environmental, economic, and human health impacts of their production and use. This site provides links to specific information about the program, such as science strategy, roles of principal federal energy agencies, and energy program fact sheets and contacts. It also contains links to specific energy source information about coal, oil, gas, and alternative fuels such as uranium, oil shale, heavy oil, and tar sands as well as geothermal and solar. Other links are available to environment and human health, publications, and energy links and teams. There is also a link to use GEO-DATA Explorer (GEODE) to access, view, and download information from geo-spatial databases containing a broad spectrum of data produced by the USGS and other government agencies.
